Set up sales tax

Your store charges sales tax only in the states you switch on. At the very least, collect in your home state. Which other states you must collect in is a question for your tax advisor.

In the Setup Wizard

1. Open the Setup Wizard, Sales tax step. Your home state is listed already.
2. Check the rate next to each state. It is a percent, for example 6.000 for 6%.
3. To collect in another state, pick it under Add a state and click + Add. To stop collecting in a state, click the × at the end of its row.
4. Click Save & continue.

On the Sales Tax Management page

Sales Tax Management shows every state on one screen. Use the switch on a state's card to turn collection on or off. Its Tax Rate is a decimal there (0.0600 is 6%); type the new rate and click Save on that card.

Note: Your go live checklist will not pass until at least your home state has tax switched on.
