Getting started 14: It takes time

Updated October 22, 2026 in Getting started and go live

Chapter 14 of 15 of Getting Started with Trinity, by Brad Bussell, 2AData. Also on the web at www.2adata.com/getting-started.

Our own store moved to Trinity in December 2025. Here is its website order count by month. GunBroker ran 500 to 700 orders a month alongside it from January on.

Month Website orders What was happening
December 2025 11 Launch week.
January 240 Feeds on gun.deals and WikiArms, Google indexing the catalog.
February 206
March 269
April 197
May 354
June 419
July to September 312 to 341 a month Steady. October is running ahead of that pace through the 21st.

Five months to find its level. And the lesson we keep relearning: in October we raised our GunBroker prices a few percent across the board. With normal traffic, sales on both channels stopped. We put the old ladder back the same night. Watch the numbers, change one dial at a time, and never raise prices across the board. That is the job.

The firearms only dealer moved an existing following and took 1,320 orders in his first 23 days, because his customers already knew where to find him and he arrived with his prices set the way the comparison sites reward. The search only store went from 21 orders a month to 30 in its second month without a single visitor from the comparison sites. The new store went from about 10 orders a week to nearly 60 the moment its prices were competitive.

The rhythm

  • Every day: ship what sold, answer the inbox, clear any holds.
  • Every week: open Live Analytics under Reports in your admin. Visitors, where they came from, orders. Open Conversion Funnel for how many reached checkout. Compare with last week. Open Search Console: pages indexed, searches you appear in.
  • Every month: check three of your prices against gun.deals. Read your feed pages: were the feeds pulled, how many items went out. Add any distributor you have opened an account with since.
  • Every quarter: ask us for a review. We read every store's numbers against the fleet and tell you where you sit.

Promote it

The stores that grow tell people. The firearms only dealer gets thousands of visits a month from Reddit, where his customers post his deals (he does not post prices on MAP brands). Facebook and Instagram send a few hundred visits a month to the stores that post. Your own customers are your best channel: once you turn on review requests under Settings, Review Requests and add your review link, the email goes out on its own after a smooth delivery, and your reviews can show on your home page. A new store is a new address nobody has; the first job is to be found.
