Point your domain at your store

Updated October 30, 2026 in Your website and marketing

Your store starts on a private address we give you. When you are ready, two DNS records at your registrar (GoDaddy, Cloudflare or any other) send your own domain to it. Here is exactly what to add and where.

Your new store starts on a private address that looks like yourstore.demo.2adata.com. Your own domain, such as yourstore.com, points at the store once two records are added where your domain's DNS is managed. That is usually the company you bought the domain from, unless you moved it to Cloudflare.

The records

Add these two records. The value is the same for every Trinity store.

Type Name (host) Value (points to) TTL
A @ (the bare domain) 96.28.109.231 default, or 1 hour
CNAME www @ (or yourstore.com, if the form will not take @) default, or 1 hour

If your registrar will not let www be a CNAME, add it as a second A record with the same value, 96.28.109.231.

Keeping your current site for now? You can put the store on a subdomain instead and leave the rest alone: one A record with the name store (so store.yourstore.com) pointing to 96.28.109.231. Tell us the name you chose.

Email keeps working. These records only change where the website lives. Your MX records and anything your email provider added stay as they are. Do not delete records you do not recognise.

At GoDaddy

  1. Sign in at godaddy.com, open My Products, and next to the domain choose DNS (or Manage DNS).
  2. Find the existing A record with name @. Edit it so the value is 96.28.109.231. If there is none, choose Add New Record, type A, name @, value 96.28.109.231.
  3. Find the CNAME record named www. Edit its value to @. If there is none, add it: type CNAME, name www, value @.
  4. If GoDaddy shows a "Parked" or "Website Builder" forwarding record on @, remove the forwarding (Domain settings, Forwarding) so the A record is what answers.
  5. Save. GoDaddy usually applies the change within an hour.

At Cloudflare

  1. Sign in, pick the domain, open DNS, then Records.
  2. Edit or add the A record: name @, IPv4 address 96.28.109.231.
  3. Edit or add the CNAME record: name www, target yourstore.com.
  4. Set the Proxy status of both records to DNS only (the grey cloud) for now. Once we have confirmed your store answers on the domain and its security certificate is issued, you may turn the orange cloud back on if you use other Cloudflare features. If you do, set SSL/TLS to Full so Cloudflare talks to the store securely.
  5. Save. Cloudflare changes apply within minutes.

Anywhere else (Namecheap, Google Domains, Squarespace, Wix, Network Solutions and others)

Look for DNS, DNS settings, Advanced DNS or Manage DNS on the domain, then add the same two records from the table above. If the domain was bought through a website builder, there is often a "use custom DNS" or "point to another host" option; that is the one you want.

Then tell us

Email support@2adata.com with the domain (and the subdomain, if you chose one). We switch your store to the domain, issue its security certificate, and confirm back to you, usually the same day. Until then the store keeps working on its private address.

How to tell it worked

  • Open https://yourstore.com and https://www.yourstore.com in a private browser window. Both should show your store with the padlock.
  • If you see your old site, your browser or your provider may still have the old address cached. Try again in an hour, or from your phone on mobile data.
  • If you see a certificate warning, the records are in but we have not issued the certificate yet. Tell us; it takes minutes once the records are visible.

What not to do

  • Do not change or delete MX records, TXT records or anything named _dmarc, _domainkey or autodiscover. Those run your email.
  • Do not set up a redirect or "forwarding" at the registrar; the store handles www and the bare domain itself.
  • Do not transfer the domain to us. You keep ownership of your domain; we only need the two records.
