Turning off free shipping for one product

Updated October 9, 2026 in Shipping and hazmat

A brand or category rule can give a product free shipping you did not want. Turn it off for that one product on the Free Shipping page, everywhere at once.

Free shipping in Trinity usually comes from a rule: every product from a brand, or every product in a category. That is handy, until the rule catches an item you never meant to ship free, such as an optic or accessory from a brand you set up for free shipping on its firearms.

You can switch free shipping off for one product without touching the rule.

Turn it off

  1. In your admin, open Shipping & FFL > Free Shipping.
  2. Scroll to the bottom card, Turn Off Free Shipping for a Product.
  3. Enter the product's UPC or SKU in Product UPC or SKU.
  4. Press Turn Off Free Shipping.

A message confirms which product it applied to. If more than one product in your catalog has that code, all of them are covered, and the message says how many.

Where it applies

A product on this list never ships free, whatever your brand or category rules say. It applies to:

  • your website, including the free shipping badge,
  • checkout,
  • the gun.deals and WikiArms feeds,
  • GunBroker.

Turn it back on

The products you have switched off are listed in the same card, with when it was done and by whom. Press Turn Back On next to a product and it follows your free shipping rules again.

Good to know

  • Items of 40 lb or more never ship free, whatever any rule or setting says. Heavy items go freight.
  • To narrow a brand rule instead, look at Category Restriction when you add a manufacturer rule on the same page. For example, Firearms Only gives free shipping on a brand's firearms but not its accessories.
  • Brand free shipping can also be switched on or off for a whole brand in Shipping & FFL > Manufacturers, with the Free shipping switch in that brand's settings.
