Set your GunBroker return policy

Updated November 3, 2026 in GunBroker

Every GunBroker listing shows a return policy (GunBroker calls it the Inspection / Return Policy). Your store sets it on each listing it creates. You choose it by kind of item, and you can give a distributor its own policy, for example a stricter one for a distributor that charges you a restocking fee.

The Return policy section of the GunBroker settings: a policy for new firearms, used firearms, optics, ammunition and reloading, magazines, gun parts and everything else, then a By distributor table with Firearms and Everything else columns

Choose your policy

  1. Open GunBroker, Settings tab, and scroll to Return policy. The same section is on Settings, GunBroker tab.
  2. Pick a policy for each kind of item: New firearms, Used firearms, Optics, Ammunition and reloading, Magazines, Gun parts and Everything else.
  3. To give a distributor its own policy, find it under By distributor and pick a policy in its Firearms column, its Everything else column, or both. Leave every other distributor on Same as the category.
  4. Click Save Settings at the end of the settings.

The choices are GunBroker's own: As is, no refund or exchange; no refund but an exchange or store credit within 14 or 30 days; 3, 5, 7 or 14 days from receipt, each also offered including shipping; a 30 day money back guarantee, also offered including shipping; and Factory warranty.

Which policy an item gets

  • A distributor setting comes first. If the listing sells from a distributor you gave its own policy, that policy is used: the Firearms column for new and used guns, the Everything else column for every other item.
  • Otherwise the kind of item decides. A firearm counts as used when its condition is Used or Refurbished, or, when no condition is set, its title says pre owned, second hand or sold as used. Every other firearm counts as new.
  • Items that are not firearms are sorted by their GunBroker category: ammunition and reloading, magazines (moon clips too), optics (scopes, sights, red dots, lasers, rangefinders, binoculars, night vision and thermal) and gun parts (barrels, bolts, triggers, slides, stocks, grips, frames, receivers, uppers, lowers, handguards, kits and similar). Cases, holsters, slings, cleaning gear, targets and ammo storage always count as Everything else, and so does anything that fits none of the groups.

When it takes effect

  • Nothing changes until you click Save Settings. Until then each box shows what your listings use now. On a store that never changed it, that is Factory warranty for new and used firearms and 3 days from receipt for everything else.
  • New listings get your policy from the moment you save.
  • Listings already live on GunBroker keep the policy they were listed with. GunBroker only takes it when a listing is created, so each live listing picks up the new policy when it ends and is listed again.
