Stock Monitor: is my website showing the right stock?
Every hour your store checks that what your website shows as in stock matches what your distributors really have. Open it from Distributors, then click Open Stock Monitor.
What it checks
- Feeds up to date. Each distributor you have switched on should send fresh stock and prices about every hour. A feed that has not updated for three hours shows as Late.
- Live check. For a sample of about 30 items, your store asks the distributor's own system right now and compares in stock or out of stock with your copy of the feed. Sports South, Lipsey's and Chattanooga offer this lookup. The other distributors do not, so they are watched through their feed only.
- Your website. It counts products that a distributor has in stock but your website still shows as out of stock, and products your website shows in stock when no distributor has any and you have none of your own.
Reading the page
- In stock at a distributor but showing out of stock should be close to zero. Stock usually reaches your website within about 40 minutes of a distributor receiving it.
- Showing in stock with no stock anywhere should also be close to zero. Items you stock yourself are never counted here as long as Local Stock shows a quantity for them.
- Held back by your drop ship settings only applies if your store is set to sell only what it can drop ship. It counts items that only distributors not marked for drop ship have in stock, which show as out of stock on purpose. On every other store this stays at zero. If you expected these items to be for sale, contact support before changing any distributor settings.
- Not refreshed in a day next to a feed means items the distributor has stopped listing but that still show a quantity.
Note: You do not need to do anything when a problem appears. Our support team is told automatically and looks into it. The live check sees the distributor's data system, which can run a few minutes behind their dealer website, so an item that just came back in stock may take a short while to show.
