What happens when NoFraud declines an order
If your store uses NoFraud and it fails a checkout, Trinity voids the card authorization and does not create the order, so the card is never charged.
If your store uses NoFraud, Trinity screens website card orders before they become orders. Here is what each result means for you.
When NoFraud fails a checkout
When NoFraud's answer is a fail:
- The card authorization is voided. The charge has not settled yet at that point, so no money moves and the customer is never charged.
- No order is created. A fraudulent order never lands in your queue, and there is nothing for you to cancel or refund.
- The shopper sees a decline at checkout.
- You get an email headed "NoFraud blocked a checkout (card voided, no order)" with the reference, amount, name, email and items, so you know it happened. Nothing needs to be done.
If the void itself ever fails, Trinity falls back to the safe option: the order is created and held for review, so a charge can never go untracked. You will see a red FRAUD FAIL banner at the top of that order.
If you would rather have failed orders created and held for you to review instead of declined, email support@2adata.com.
When NoFraud says review
The order is created, and a yellow MANUAL REVIEW REQUIRED banner shows at the top of it. Verify the order before shipping.
Which orders are screened
- Website orders paid by card.
- Not screened: orders that include a firearm or other FFL item (those ship to a licensed dealer, with a background check at the transfer), Credova orders, pay in person orders, and repeat customers with at least one paid order over 90 days old and no chargebacks.
Turning NoFraud on
NoFraud is set up under Tools > NoFraud in your admin. Enter your API Key (it is in the NoFraud portal under Integrations), switch screening on so the page shows Screening Active, and press Save Settings. With screening off, or without a NoFraud account, no orders are screened.
