The Awaiting Hazmat Approval status
If a hazmat item ever sells, set the order to Awaiting Hazmat Approval. The customer is emailed about the hazmat shipping fee and replies to approve it or cancel.
Trinity works hard to keep hazmat items such as primers and powder off your store (see Why hazmat items are not sold on your store). Still, distributor data is not perfect, and now and then one may get through and be ordered.
When that happens, do not ship it and do not absorb the hazmat charges yourself. Use the Awaiting Hazmat Approval status.
How to use it
- Open the order from your Dashboard.
- In the bar at the top of the order, find Status.
- Choose Awaiting Hazmat Approval and press Save.
Trinity emails the customer straight away.
What the customer receives
The email explains that their order includes an item the carriers class as hazmat, lists the items on the order, and states the hazmat shipping fee. It points to the Shipping section of your Terms and Conditions, where the same fee is shown, and says the order is on hold until they reply with one word:
- Approved, and you add the fee to the order and ship it.
- Cancel, and you cancel the order and refund them in full.
A few stores still have an older, shorter version of this email. If yours does not list the items or show your fee, email support@2adata.com and we will update it.
The fee amount
The email and your Terms and Conditions show the same hazmat fee figure for your store. If you want it changed, email support@2adata.com.
After the customer answers
- If they approve, add the fee and carry on with the order as normal.
- If they cancel, cancel and refund the order the way you normally would.
