Connecting your distributors to Trinity: feed and ordering credentials
What each distributor connection needs, what to have ready, how to ask for credentials, and a request email you can copy.
Before Trinity can show a distributor's products on your website or send it your orders, that distributor has to give you credentials made for an integration. This guide explains how the process works for every distributor, with links to a separate guide for each one.
The complete reference is the Distributor Credentials Guide on 2AData.com. The guides here break it down one distributor at a time and show where each value goes in Trinity.
Two connections, not one
Most distributors involve two separate connections:
- The catalog and inventory feed. This brings in products, your cost, stock levels, images and specifications.
- Electronic ordering. This sends your approved orders to the distributor, as drop ships or ship to store.
Having one does not mean you have the other. A distributor can turn on your feed and still not have approved you for electronic ordering, so ask for both whenever you plan to use both.
The login you use on a distributor's website is usually not what Trinity needs. Distributors tend to issue separate FTP, SFTP, API, web services or fulfillment account credentials for this.
What to have ready
- Your legal business name
- Your dealer or customer number with that distributor
- The main email address on the account
- Your sales rep's name and email address
- The integrator name: Trinity by 2AData
- How you want orders handled: shipped to your store, accessories drop shipped, or firearms shipped to a receiving FFL
- Your FFL and resale documents, in case the distributor asks for them
How to ask, in three steps
- Look in the dealer portal first. Sign in to the distributor's wholesale site and look through menus such as My Account, Account Settings, Dealer Tools, Data Services, Web Services, Integrations, API Tokens, or Dropship. Some distributors let you generate a key or request a feed yourself.
- Ask your sales rep. If the portal does not have what you need, email your rep with your dealer number and the integrator name, Trinity by 2AData.
- Ask for the right team. If your rep is not sure, ask to be passed to e-commerce support, data services, web services, electronic ordering support, or the API or IT integration team.
A request email you can copy
Fill in the parts in square brackets:
Subject: Request for data feed and electronic ordering credentials, account [ACCOUNT NUMBER]

My dealer or customer number is [ACCOUNT NUMBER]. Please send the FTP, SFTP, API, web services or fulfillment account credentials that apply, and let me know if drop shipping or electronic ordering has to be turned on separately.
